As hurricane season continues, the Houston Housing and Community Development Department (HCDD) is working to better equip our community with hurricane preparedness information. We are looking to partner with local nonprofits to organize and execute community outreach programs that will effectively reach historically underserved populations and share important resilience information.
Programming should take place at the neighborhood level and increase awareness about several topics:
- What to do to prepare for a hurricane
- What to do in the immediate aftermath of a disaster
- What resources are available to residents impacted by flooding
- Fair housing resources and information
With your help, we can better prepare our City’s residents for hurricane season.
Who should apply?
Organizations with established relationships to historically underserved communities and the capacity to effectively execute outreach and education programs.

How does it work?
In their applications, organizations will share a plan for conducting outreach activities. Selected organizations will then carry out their plans and be reimbursed by the City for eligible outreach expenses.
